My name is Marcelo Solis. I am a milonguero, Argentine Tango dancer, choreographer and instructor.
I was born in Rosario, Argentina in 1966. I started to dance Argentine Tango in 1986, and have never stopped since.
I love to dance to traditional tango music from 1930’s and 40’s.
As instructor, I like to bring to you the tango from the milongas of Buenos Aires; the social dance focused on musicality, connection, and improvisation. I base my method of teaching on exercises and explanations that make my students understand the fundamentals of the dance.
I have taught and performed in many different communities in Argentina, USA, Canada and Europe.
Currently, I keep a busy schedule in the San Francisco Bay Area, including regular group classes, special workshops, and private lessons.
I go to Buenos Aires several times a year, where I teach and give exhibitions in the most important milongas, such as Salon Canning and Confitería Ideal.
Every year I offer a Tango Tour to Buenos Aires to introduce my students to the culture and place of tango origins.
If you are planning to travel to Buenos Aires on your own, please contact me. I am a certified travel agent, and can give you any help you may need.
